Unique eco-sustainable and eco-compatible artifacts made with reconstituted Madrepietra from the Apricena quarries.
Crafted from reconstituted Madrepietra stone from the Apricena quarries, these benches are eco-sustainable and environmentally friendly products that embody a commitment to environmental protection. These literary benches are an innovation first introduced to Italy in 2018 by Viscio Urban Design, and since their debut, they have captivated the entire country, from the tip of the peninsula to the islands. Each installation is unique, the result of a creative process that gives them unparalleled beauty.
Literary benches are not limited to being simple elements of street furniture, but go beyond, engaging and arousing emotions in observers.
Perching on them means coming into contact with a work of art that tells a story, inspires reflection, and stimulates creativity. They are places of encounter and contemplation, offering an oasis of tranquility and inspiration amidst the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Thanks to their eco-friendly materials and their ability to convey emotion, literary benches are an excellent example of how art and sustainability can merge to create something truly special.
The considerable extraction work in the area produces an enormous quantity of waste material, destined for mills for the recycling of inert materials.
It is precisely the waste material resulting from quarrying that makes up over 70% of the mix used to produce a reconstituted Madrepietra product by Viscio Urban Design. Madrepietra sand and breccia are mixed with cement and water to create a granular mixture that is poured into special molds to create various products. This recycled material, recovered at zero kilometers, is eco-sustainable and environmentally friendly, fully compliant with CAM criteria. If we also consider the use of rainwater (recovered) in the mix, the recycling rate could be increased to well over 72%.
