THE PURITY OF FORMS THAT COMBINES FUNCTIONALITY AND SUSTAINABILITY
RecycALL is the result of a research journey that brings together aesthetics, technology, and environmental responsibility. Designed by Tiziana Di Sipio, Sara Priore, and Alessandro Canepa for Viscio Urban Design, the project pursues tangible goals: recycling local short-supply-chain materials, reducing production and sales costs, cutting CO2 emissions, generating independent light, and offering extensive customization options. The core module, made of reconstituted Madrepietra, incorporates Italcementi’s TX Active® photocatalytic technology, which breaks down pollutants when exposed to light. Photoluminescent glass microparticles allow the product to glow in the dark without the need for electricity. Its cylindrical shape maximizes light absorption, while the customizable upper “cap” enhances its design impact and functionality. Available as a planter as well, RecycALL offers hybrid solutions fit for both historic and modern environments.
The ideal combination of sustainability and design
The system is designed for modular serial manufacturing, combining refined aesthetics with adaptability—each unit customizable to match project requirements. Developed from the original concept, Bitt extends the RecycALL range—a sculptural urban bollard crafted from Madrepietra and stainless steel, in collaboration with Amare Group, specialists in luxury nautical design. First showcased at Metstrade Amsterdam 2024, Bitt will be a highlight at future editions of Metstrade 2025 and Boot Düsseldorf 2026, representing a convergence of urban utility and high-end nautical craftsmanship.
The considerable extraction work in the area produces an enormous quantity of waste material, destined for mills for the recycling of inert materials.
It is precisely the waste material resulting from quarrying that makes up over 70% of the mix used to produce a reconstituted Madrepietra product by Viscio Urban Design. Madrepietra sand and breccia are mixed with cement and water to create a granular mixture that is poured into special molds to create various products. This recycled material, recovered at zero kilometers, is eco-sustainable and environmentally friendly, fully compliant with CAM criteria. If we also consider the use of rainwater (recovered) in the mix, the recycling rate could be increased to well over 72%.
